Photographer Charles Gatewood is a social anthropologist who has documented alternative culture since the mid-1960s. He has published a dozen books, including Sidetripping (with William S. Burroughs), Hellfire, Primitives, Badlands, True Blood, The Body and Beyond, and Forbidden Photographs. Gatewood's latest book, A Complete Unknown, documents his famous 1966 shoot with Bob Dylan (see acompleteunknown.com).
