About Kim:

My background is in painting and documentary photography. I have a BFA from Alfred University, School of Art and Design. While I continue to paint for fun, photography has become my main focus in the past 10 years. I've always been incredibly observant; as a child I was often scolded for my "staring problem" or "daydreaming". I believe that constant observation of the world around me has strengthened the interpretation I offer in my /images today. I've photographed everything from rural America to the runways of NYC. Whether it's a little girl playing in her front lawn, a bride on the most exciting day of her life, or a model on the catwalk, I have an incredible passion for capturing moments in time, which has developed in to a fulfilling career allowing me to celebrate life one frame at a time.

Kim was recommended to us through one of my bridesmaids and now I feel like she's so much more than just our wedding photographer - she's a friend! She was truly fantastic to work with - her work speaks for itself and her attitude on the job is the perfect balance between professional & fun. We are so thrilled that she was able to capture the best moments of our big day - she even catches the small moments that are often missed...a glance between father & daughter, a bar-side conversation between uncles, the chaos & excitement of getting ready...all of it...

I have worked as an event planner and also as the studio manager for a successful fashion photographer in NYC. At work, I have hired many event photographers and I've poured over thousands of images making selects & editing for ad campaigns, cover stories, etc. With that experience, I can say Kim stands above much of the competition in her field and she has a knack for capturing moments that many strive for but often lack. We would (and already have!) recommend Kim to any engaged couple looking to document their wedding day. Thank you Kim!!

Kim Praast is a talented artist as well as a pragmatic, customer service oriented professional. I don?t know how she wears both hats so well, but she does! From the initial phone call I was comfortable with her, which is imperative when choosing the person you have alongside you at every moment of one of the most amazing days of your life. Kim suggested we work together on engagement photos, which she provides at a very reasonable rate. This was a critical step in the process of getting exactly the photographs in the style we hoped for on our wedding day. It got us familiar with Kim, comfortable with the camera, and guided our conversations and requests. It also resulted in some super fun photos so don?t skip this step! On the wedding day, Kim was the consummate professional. She straddled the line between being engaging, amusing and blending in to the point of disappearing, all the while capturing beautiful images of us, our guests and the location. I was delighted in having her with me every step of the way, from getting dressed, to the intimate moments after the ceremony, through the thrill of the reception all the way to the bitter end. Working with her to create albums after the fact has also been a joy. Kim is responsive to our timeline, sensitive to our budget and enthusiastically works in the myriad of styles we have asked her to provide in order to satisfy all the different tastes in our families. Can you tell that I adore her and her work? I cannot recommend her highly enough. You cannot go wrong with this photographer!

Kim is awesome! We feel we made a friend who just so happens to be a photographer at our wedding. We originally picked Kim for the artistry of her work. We were blown away. Not just the standard portrait shots, but a unique vision at the events she supported. This was exactly what she provided for us as well.

Kim's responses were without comparison. Actually, we were probably the bottleneck in terms of communications. She is equally as concerned about our impressions and opinions of her work as she is about our feelings about the total experience. This was displayed by her frequent contact with us.

Professionalism: Take this example and ponder how you feel. When other photographers are hell bent on "hocking their wares" to any Tom, Dick, or Harry, Kim worked exclusively through us to ensure that WE had complete control of what photos went out AND provided us with all the originals. Add in the commitment to understand and meet our expectations throughout the process, and you get an idea how impressed we were with her professionalism.

Value: Kim's prices reflect her product. Her work is art. What she provides is unique, and a perfect chronology of our event. I have poured over the photo set at least 8 times since receiving the originals, and each time I start laughing, remembering the event, and think how lucky we are to have these photos. We are so happy that we found Kim. She is our photographer for life. She worked with us on every aspect of the photography negotiations, both before, during, and after the event. She blended in to the event, was not demanding in the least, and was a very positive part of our event.
