Description

Hand carved by World Champion Carver, Merrill S. Timmins, this 3/4 size Mallard Drake is a work of art. Mr. Timmins has been carving for 28 years and teaching the art of carving for 18 years. Each of his birds and ducks are hand crafted from a block of Basswood or Tupelo and painted true-to-life.

The Mallard, or Wild duck, is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and sub-tropical Americas, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has become introduced to New Zealand and Australia. The male birds have a bright green head, while the female's is light brown. The Mallard lives in wetlands, eats water plants, and is gregarious. It is also migratory. The Mallard is the ancestor of all domestic ducks.
