Born in 1977 in Virginia, Plaxico Burress is known for his career as a free agent wide receiver in the National Football League. Burress attended Michigan State University where he set a Big Ten Conference single-season record for catching passes (65) in his very first season there. He was named to the All-Big Ten Conference twice before he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft. Burress played with the Steelers until 2004, after which point he joined the New York Giants. It was while he was with the Giants that he was selected to the All-Pro (2007) and won a Super Bowl championship ring (XLII). After the 2008 season, Burress became a free agent in the NFL due to some unsavory legal troubles.
