Description

Six Month Membership & 'skip the waitlist' access to the Writers's Room, the nation's oldest and largest urban writers' colony, located in a bright and airy loft at the crossroads of Greenwich Village and the East Village. The Room annually provides more than 300 established and emerging writers the use of quiet, affordable work space.

The Writers Room was founded in 1978 to provide emerging and established writers, working in any and all literary genres, with affordable work space in New York City.  A non-profit organization, the Room offers subsidized workspace that is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. As testament to the productivity of the place, in 2006 there were more than four dozen fiction and non-fiction publications and several films optioned and plays by writers put into production.

With its free WiFi and LexisNexis access, its reference library, its readings at the Cornelia Street Café, and its kitchen/lounge, the Room offers writers practical support as well as the creative stimulation of meeting other writers. There are no restrictions on literary genre: novelists, poets, biographers, journalists, screenwriters, and children’s book authors are all welcome in the room.
