DC Weekend: Private Tours of the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol
Item Number: 486
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
This is your chance to take a rare, privately-guided tour of both the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. Start off the weekend at the headquarters of the Department of Defense, where your guide, Randy Mamiaro, Oversight for the Department of Defense, will take you to visit the Hall of Heroes (and see the Medal of Honor recipients), the Sept. 11 crash-site and memorial, as well as many other points of interest. During this tour, you will also be exposed to the history and facts of the four military branches: Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine Corps. It's a virtual city, employing 23,000 people that contribute to the defense of our country!
Your Political Science lesson continues with an invitation by Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey to take a staff-led tour of the U.S. Capitol! Actively used by Congress, the U.S. Capitol is also a museum of American art and history, and is a famous example of 19th century neoclassical architecture. If you are lucky enough to be there when Congress is in session, you may watch the proceedings of the House and Senate. Put your flag pin on and bask in the glory of our country's amazing history and working government!
