Tour of Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo Bird Department

Item Number: 456
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Fly with the birds at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo! Colleen Lynch, the Hope B McCormick Curator of Birds, will lead a tour for up to six people of the bird exhibits and incubation facilities. Lincoln Park Zoo's bird collection includes more than 300 specimens of over 50 species, among them are many rarely-exhibited species like the lesser green broadbill, Blyth's hornbill, and Micronesian kingfisher. The tour will include zoo admission, free parking, and an opportunity to disperse the bug-of-the day for some hungry McCormick Bird House residents. Colleen Lynch specializes in population management (match-making and family planning) for endangered species, and in the artificial incubation and hand rearing of birds. She has hatched eggs and raised chicks from hummingbirds to harpy eagles and loves to talk about the incredible-sometimes-edible-egg.
