Crested Butte, Colorado: Take a tour in of the amazing and beautiful wildflowers and interesting and varied pollinators of the Rocky Mountains at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, led by Dr. David Inouye. David has worked at RMBL for 40 years studying hummingbirds, bumble bees, butterflies, pollination biology and other aspects of wildflower biology. His work, supported by the National Science Foundation, has been featured at the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, botanic gardens including the US Botanic Garden, Missouri Botanical Garden, and in many magazine and newspaper articles.

Special Instructions

A 3-4 hour tour, time arranged by mutual convenience in June or July 2011. Could be a tour by car with sites near the road, or a hike up a local peak, or something in between. RMBL is at 9,500 feet, about 8 miles outside Crested Butte, CO. The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival will be 12-18 July, and features many tours, lectures, and other wildflower-related events.
