Description

Explore the historic streets of Tampa's Ybor City with a walking tour for four!

Your 90-minute walking tour includes a stroll down "La Septima Avenida" (Seventh Avenue) or "Broadway," as residents know it. Seventh Avenue is not just a street but the heart of a special community, and has been designated one of the American Planning Association's (APA) Great Streets in America for its history and character.

The rich history of Ybor City encompasses manufacturing, immigration, organized crime and revolution.  Teddy Roosevelt trained his Rough Riders here; Cuban revolutionary Jose Marti walked the streets of Ybor.

Experience a visa-free visit to the only Cuban-owned land in America; learn how the orders for the Cuban uprising against Spain were smuggled from Ybor City to Havana; discover the game of Bolita; and learn the fascinating history of how organized crime controlled Tampa for decades.

All tours are conducted by Lonnie Herman, a Tampa resident for over three decades. A former sales and marketing executive, Lonnie has contributed articles to many diverse publications. With his love of history and encyclopedic knowledge of Ybor City, entertaining and educating you on your visit is his goal!
