Canoe Excursion Durand MI

Item Number: 227
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
This item is good for 2 canoes to take a 2 hour canoe trip down the Shiawassee River.
The Shiawassee River has a reputation for good fishing for smallmouth bass, rock bass and northern pike from Byron to Chesaning.
The upper half of the river, above the confluence of the south branch and the main branch, near Byron, does not support much of a fishery. The fish community is made up of small centrarchids and forage species. From the confluence of the two branches down to Chesaning, the river supports a very attractive fishery for smallmouth bass and rock bass plus an occasional northern pike. Below the dam at Chesaning, the catch includes the above species plus white bass, walleye, and channel catfish.
This canoe trip is based out of the Walnut Hills Family Campground in Durand MI. http://www.walnuthillsfamilycampground.com
