Description
For festivals and wedding rituals, the Maithili women of Janakpur, Nepal traditionally paint lively designs on the mud walls of their homes. A group off dedicated women are now creating these paintings on hand made paper to preserve this art form and provide income for their families. This piece, painted by Sita Karna, depicts fish which in Buddhism symbolize happiness as they have complete freedom swimming in the water.
