This marvelous rug from Afghanistan is made of 100% hand carded, hand spun wool and dyed with vegetable extracts. The “Soumack” weave originated in Caucasia several centuries ago resulting in a carpet with a flat surface, rather than a pile. Although the carpet is new, it has a wonderful antique feel.
