Description

This print of James Weeks' painting, Two Musicians (1960) will inspire any room in your home! Bay Area painter, James Weeks (1922-1998) was born in Oakland and was associated with the Abstract Expressionist Movement as well as other Bay Area abstract expressionist painters like Richard Diebenkorn and David Park. Weeks's father was a well-known San Francisco bandleader and his mother was a classical pianist. Weeks's paintings often depict jazz singers and scenes from night clubs. James Weeks was one of ten San Francisco modern artists in the 1950s and 1960s. He attended the California School of Fine Arts and taught there in 1948. In 1967, Weeks moved to Los Angeles to teach at the University of California with Richard Diebenkorn. "Two Musicians" was acquired in 1984 and belongs to a collection at SFMOMA.
