The Congressman is a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, and chairs the Subcommittee on the Interior and Environment. He also serves on the Defense and State and Foreign Operations Subcommittees.

Congressman Moran co-chairs the "Congressional Prevention Coalition," a bipartisan, bi-cameral caucus formed to raise awareness in Congress on disease prevention and health promotion to identify strategies that can lead to a healthier nation. He also created and leads the "Task Force on Sovereign Wealth Funds," a group studying established issues surrounding sovereign wealth funds and their potential to affect geopolitics, and the U.S. and international economies.
