Originally built in the 1940's, at the famous watering hole along the Lourenco Marques / Durban route, this graciousold lodge was purchased by the Zulu Nyala Group in September 1996. The building has been restored to its former colonial grandeur, enhanced with a delightfully decadent ambience, and added new accommodation facilities, themed to highlight Zululand's unique cultural development.

The estate adjoins the Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve, with all of the reserve activities such as game drives and walks available to Heritage guests. The reserve is home to abundant plains game (the shy and beautiful nyala, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, impala and many more), as well as elephant, white rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, hippo and a wealth of bird life. Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles, by FGASA qualified and experienced game rangers. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are both offered, each allowing a unique viewing experience as different animals are more easily seen at different times of the day.
