Description

WHAT IS FRESH INK?
Four times a year, an envelope will arrive in your mailbox. It is filled with the latest cumbersome projects — a new lino cut print, a series of cards and jam labels. Perhaps it is a notebook and placecards . . . all of it is packaged to be passed along as a gift or be used by you. Think of it as quarterly inspiration to make, draw, write a letter, have a dinner party.

WHY A SUBSCRIPTION?
During the summer, we look forward to getting our weekly farm share. Inside the box, we find gorgeous produce fresh from the fields. We have learned to cook with what is in the box (even the bok choy) and we really enjoy the direct connection with the people who grow our food. Cumbersome would like to create a similar connection with  you and of course, put together unique and playful mailings!

DETAILS PLEASE
Your subscription will begin in January with your first package— which we forwarded to you directly at the end of the auction. Envelopes will then arrive in March, June, and finally in September.

WHO ARE THE CUMBERSOME MULTIPLES?
A Portland-based print and design collective led by husband and wife artist team Daniel Duford and Tracy Schlapp, Cumbersome Multiples collaborates with artists and writers to create limited-edition multiples using a 1928 Chandler and Price letterpress, a cabinet of mixed lead type, block prints and whatever else happens to be in the studio. Cumbersome Multiples also produces small-batch paper ephemera such as cards, notes and stationery.

Daniel Duford and Tracy Schlapp have been making art, mailings, and books together since 1991. The collaborations involve several steps, some of which require a little extra elbow grease! Late one night in the studio, Daniel coined the phrase and it stuck.
