2009 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Vineyard: Our Cabernet is grown on the upper slopes of the Beckstoffer Amber Knolls Vineyard in the Red Hills of Lake County. It was planted in 1999 on 1103 rootstock, clone 337 and sits at an elevation of 2000 – 2200 feet.
Fermentation and Aging: The wine is fermented in upright stainless steel.
After fermentation the wine was separated into distinct parcels and given a range of oak treatments from new French oak to none at all. The wine was bottled 18 months after harvest.
Wine: The wine exhibits classic mountain characters of intensity and balance. This is a mid-weight wine that has mineral and classic cabernet varietal character.
2010 SAUVIGNON BLANC
Vineyard: The wine is grown in the Rooster vineyard in Lake County. It is located in an ancient riverbed at lake level – 1,350 feet above sea level. It is surrounded by Lake County’s famed Bartlett Pear orchards and is owned and farmed by David Weiss.
Fermentation: The fruit was picked cold in the small hours of the morning. The free run juice was separated from the press and fermented cold and slow in stainless steel. Prior to bottling, a small amount of the press wine was added back into the blend for balance.
Wine: The distinctive character of this wine is its amazing lifted aromas and mouth-filling grapefruit flavors with racy acidity and a delightfully long, soft finish.
