Description
IN HONOR OF SPENCER AND MARY DICK:
Peter and Cassie Northrup - parents of campers Katherine and Mary Northrup - are donating a unique package to experience the Big Island of Hawaii in ways most tourists never see. Stay in their beautiful house in the Parker Ranch for 9 days and also receive a voucher representing $1,000 either toward tickets or upgrades to first class on Hawaiian Airlines. This is an actual town, not a tourist destiantion.
The house comfortably sleeps 4 adults with two bedrooms ensuite with bathrooms. In addition there is an upstairs sunroom with bed and shower and additional bath located on the main floor. The location is not a tourist destination with the exception of Merriman's Restaurant...it is a relaxing escape on a temperate hill you would not imagine existed just 10 miles from the tropical coast.
Enjoy horseback riding, a drive to Pulolo Valley, cocktails at the Mauna Kea (former Rockresort) which is 10 miles down the hill on the beach, the volcano and other unique Big Island sights. Over 9 days you can snorkel, visit the Volcanoes, deep-sea fish, horseback ride, and relax. You can also visit the Telescope, Onomea Bay Gardens, coffee operations and Captain Cook monument. The Big Island is home to The Ironman World Championships and will provide an experience unlike any other available on the other islands of Hawaii.
Peter and Cassie are asking for a minimum starting bid of $2,500 in honor Spencer and Mary, who introduced Nor'wester to the Northrup family. This is a chance to experience a once in a lifetime trip. Stay Saturday to Sunday. Use $1,000 of credit to either upgrade to First Class or help buy your tickets on Hawaiian Airlines. Most dates are available, but you may inquire about specific dates prior to purchase.
Peter and Cassie are very satisfied parents of Nor'wester alumnae and are appreciateive of what Nor'wester has to offer young people. This gesture is a thank you and an honor to Spencer and Mary Dick, who introduced them to Camp. Thank you!
Special Note to Bidders: I worked in the Hawaian Islands for a number of years. The Big Island is a little different than how you picture Maui or Oahu; the beaches are often volcanic or have black sand (remember the Chris Isaak video), but there are so many treasures that it never gets boring. The range in microclimates are impressive as the peak elevation on the Big Island reaches above 13,000 feet above sea level on a mountain that is actually 50,000 feet from the ocean floor. You can find the best coffee in the world in Kona. You will find amazing opportunities to study the history of the Hawaian people as the Big Island was the vacation spot of choice for the Hawaian Royalty. There are fantastic opportunities to mountain bike, scuba dive, and deep sea fish. The Volcanoe National Park is unlike any other experience you will see. So, what I am communicating is that this trip is not your Hawaian Beach house - but the location and facility are great...and the opportunities for truly unique experiences abound on the Big Island. This item is restricted to the Nor'wester community and is probably best suited for a family of up to 6 or a couple of couples.
