Description
Rafa Mithuna and Bill Buehler are an enigma. . .they are sheer genius in motion.
Rafa graduated Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a degree in fine art with an outstanding mastery of layered water color painting. “I fell in love with the way light fell on mundane things and magically transformed them . . . and have always been fascinated by the surface of water—it was a mysterious veil between me and another world—this has become the theme in my work—seeing what the veil reveals” he explains for us. Now he has turned his talents to welding steel.
The welded steel lantern being offered for auction is 26" tall x 12" wide and weighs in at 60 pounds. The lantern represents a new blending of Bill & Rafa's art. It incorporates 1940’s military truck parts re-crafted into a whimsical decorative steel lantern. It displays the beauty of the form and function of American manmade manufactured steel, graced with age and repurposed.
