Winnie Woodpecker appeared only once in a 1954 theatrical cartoon called "Real Gone Woody" in which Buzz Buzzard tries to win her away from Woody Woodpecker at a High School sock hop.
It was at a lakeside cottage during Walter Lantz's Honeymoon with actress Grace Stafford in 1941 where Lantz became inspired to create his most famous cartoon character. After hearing a continuous knocking sound coming from the roof, Waltz went outside to what was making such a racket. It turned out to be a Woodpecker. Woody Woodpecker made his debut as a supporting character in an Andy
Panda cartoon titled "Knock Knock." This guest appearance would be the begining of an extremely lucrative source of licensing royalties, and made Lantz a staple in the exclusive fraternity of cartoon creators.
