The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival takes place in Telluride Town Park, a renowned outdoor music venue with breath-taking mountain peaks for a backdrop. At the heart of our venue is the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage, a small, humble wooden stage that has held the weight of legends over the years. When B.B. King performed here in 2004, he sat on this same stage, looked out at the mountains before him, and told the crowd, "Out of the 90 different countries I've been to, I've never seen anything more beautiful than what you have here." It's not the altitude that'll take your breath away. It's the views.
The historic mining town of Telluride is situated 8,750' above sea level and a renowned a ski town by winter and the festival capital of Colorado in the summer. Telluride's main street, just steps away from the festival grounds, is home to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and bars. At night, after the music ends in the park, we move the festival scene into various music venues located throughout the town of Telluride and Mountain Village. These are the "juke joints", and once they get jamming a walk down main street feels like a walk down Beale Street in Memphis.
Be at this years celebration of the bands, the fans, the food and the brews during three fun filled days which will include over 20 national touring bands and more than 50 microbreweries represented.
The Grand Tasting will be held on Saturday from 12:00 – 3:00 pm with more than 100 different flavors of beer to taste. The art of the micro brew is displayed at its finest, and the brewers serve only their best recipes. The live music over the three days will be much more than just blues, and will include rock, funk, gospel and soul performances. There will also be an acoustic blues competition. The top six entries will play at the festival’s “Blues For Breakfast”, held at the Elks Lodge from 9:00 am – Noon on Saturday, September 17th. The winner of the competition will perform on the main stage later that afternoon.
