Description

Once again, WXXI proudly welcomes Jim Christy on board as the Featured Artist for its annual Auction! A Rochester native, Jim Christy has an abiding interest in both historic and present day scenes around his hometown. In his watercolor painting, HIGH FALLS, Jim treats us to a spectacular, but rarely seen view from the base of the falls. Without the distraction of the city's skyline, it is as if time has been erased and we are sharing an experience with the region's earliest settlers. We marvel at the height of the falls, and feel the awesome power as the rushing water plunges over its rocky ledge. Clinging to the brink, Cornelius Parsons' old sawmill peers through windowless walls, paying homage to the river that gave rise to Rochester's story so many years ago. Jim maintains a studio at his home where he paints for galleries, here and in Florida, and accepts commissions. For several years Jim has contributed his artwork to the Auction and says he is honored to have this featured artist position. The print measures 19 1/2 inches wide x 27 inches high.
