Description

Beautiful thangka of the popular wealth deity Jhambhala blessed by Jhado Rinpoche during Kalachakra empowerment at San Juan, Puerto Rico, December, 2009. Image is 11" x 14"; 18" x 26" with brocade.

Jhado Tulku Rinpoche is one of the most highly esteemed lamas in the Geluk lineage today.  In addition to his excellent education in the Geluk monastic college system, over the years Rinpoche has also received many oral transmissions and empowerments from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his two main tutors, as well as from many great teachers from other traditions, including the famous Nyingma master Trulshik Rinpoche.

Renowned for his keen intelligence and dynamic teaching style, Jhado Rinpoche is also highly acclaimed for his ability to engage western students in ways that are interesting and personally relevant.  In addition to these qualities, Rinpoche is also well known and loved for his gentle demeanor and his kindness.

Jambhala is the wealth-giving form of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of compassion.

Jambhala's blessings are to help others by eliminating poverty, so that they may practice the Dharma. There are five Jambhalas - Yellow Jambhala (overcomes pride), White Jambhala (overcomes attachment), Black Jambala (overcomes resentment), Green Jambhala (overcomes jealousy) and Red Jambhala (overcomes greed). For instance, the White Jambhala is shown sitting on a turquoise dragon and his left hand holds a mongoose that spews out precious jewels.
