Buddha Manjushri is the Wisdom Buddha - the embodiment of the omniscient wisdom of all enlightened beings.

His left hand is in the gesture of teaching Dharma and holds the stem of a lotus flower that supports the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra.

The flaming sword in his right hand symbolizes the power of wisdom to cut through ignorance, the root of all suffering. By relying upon Buddha Manjushri, our own wisdom naturally increases.

I got this thangka from an online place about 10 years ago. Not sure if they're still around and can't remember their name, but they had uniformly stunning and interesting stuff, rather than the standard thing you see everywhere these days. 

I remember the woman telling me that her thangkas were painted by Tibetans who came from traditional thankga painting familes, with shops in Nepal. Also I had a friend who studied with Andy Weber once explain the traditional proportions to me in detail using that thangka as an example.
