Vertical brocade banner with 8 sweetly detailed multicolor auspicious symbols printed on textured cream fabric. Deep purple and golden brocade surrounds the central symbols. Line on back with red fabric. Wooden decorative ends on bottom of banner; single loop on top for hanging. 37" tall, 9" wide.
Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist art frequently makes use of a particular set of eight auspicious symbols, ashtamangala, in household and public art. These symbols have spread with Buddhism to many cultures' arts, including Indian, Tibetan, Nepalese, and Chinese art.
These symbols are:
1. Lotus flower. Representing purity and enlightenment.
2. Endless knot, or, the Mandala. Representing harmony.
3. Golden Fish pair. Representing conjugal happiness and freedom.
4. Victory Banner. Representing a victorious battle.
5. Wheel of Dharma or Chamaru in Nepali Buddhism. Representing knowledge.
6. Treasure Vase. Representing inexhaustible treasure and wealth.
7. Parasol. Representing the crown, and protection from the elements.
8. Conch shell. Representing the thoughts of the Buddha.

Shipping & Delivery
You are welcome to pick up your winning items at the Maitripa College Portland offices on Wednesday December 14 between 9-5 or by special arrangement. Otherwise winning items will be shipped to arrive in time for the holidays.
Shipping for most items: $12 per package for 3-day priority delivery anywhere within the U.S. and Puerto Rico. If more than one winning item is shipping to the same address, we will attempt to ship more than one item in one package if possible. International shipping fees will be custom-calculated.
For over-sized, fragile and odd-sized items: $35 per package for 3-day priority delivery anywhere within the U.S. and Puerto Rico. International shipping fees will be custom-calculated.
