Guided kayak tour of the Weir River Estuary
Item Number: 144
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Explore the beautiful and peaceful Weir River Estuary by kayak, generously donated by Nantasket Kayaks. Included in this package for up to four people is an expert guide and all gear that you will need for the 2.5 hour tour.
About the Tour
After an introduction to the kayaks and instruction in basic techniques, we'll begin a leisurely kayak journey paddle through the salt marshes to the point where the Weir River empties into the Bay.
We'll take a short hike to a secluded pond and look for birds and rare plants. Relax and savor the ambience of the area. We'll explore the small islets and tidal backeddies of the Weir River estuary and view the beautiful shores of World's End.
In these sheltered waters you'll have great opportunities to view the diversity of marine life for which the area is famous. Given the abundance of wildlife, you're sure to see many shore and sea birds, and likely to spot osprey, swans, geese, perhaps even a family of red foxes.
Native Americans hunted and fished the Weir River Estuary for thousands of years. The Plymouth Colony began trading with the local Native Americans as early as 1621.
Here, you will find undisturbed salt marshes and a unique habitat that supports over 100 different species of migratory and breeding birds.
