Having grown up in a musical family, Dr. Ling Leng began playing the piano at the age of three in her native China. She has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in United States, as well as abroad in China, Canada and Germany.

Dr. Leng has more than ten years of teaching experience. She was a full time teacher at Beijing's largest piano academy, and after coming to the United States, still manages to balance her time between performance and teaching. She is known for her ability to inspire and motivate young beginners, and also teaches a wide variety of adult students from beginning to advanced levels. Students learn the joy of creating music, and the importance of being persistent.

She has collaborated on recitals with Toby Oft, principal Trombone of the BSO; Mike Roylance, principal Tuba of the BSO; Don Lucas, president of the International Trombone Association and associate professor of Boston University; Gwendolyn Thrasher, associate professor of Percussion at the University of Michigan, and players and teachers from Montreal, Taiwan Symphony Orchestras.

Dr. Leng received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Shenyang Conservatory in China and then a Master in Piano Pedagogy from Beijing Normal University. After coming to the United States, she received a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Boston Conservatory, studying with Dr. Jonathan Bass, as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from the Boston University College for the Arts. She currently holds the position of staff pianist at the New England Conservatory and Boston Conservatory.
