Description
To the Romans Bacchus was the god of wine, theater, ritual madness and ecstasy. Here, 19-Century French Beaux-Arts master Jules Joseph Lefebvre captures his spirit. This 1883 Goupil and Company rotogravure print of Lefebvre's "Nymph and Bacchus" was donated by Stephan and Julia Brigidi of the Bristol Workshops in Photography, Bristol, RI. In mint condition, the print measures 6 ½" x 8 7/8" and is matted in museum board. Overall dimensions, in its brown shimmer wood frame, are 16" x 20".
