Description
Artist Holden Wetherbee, who came to Block Island in the late 1940s, created murals and paintings for the Highview Hotel that portrayed the bucolic island life of an era that has long since passed.
Artist Wetherbee shows us, in this lithograph from a sseries donated by Jack Lynch, author of "Wetherbee's Block Island - Paintings From the 1940s", life on Block Island in the late 1940s. If you visit today, you'll find that the Hog Pen has docks for pleasure boats. In other words, the looks may have changed, but it's used for essentially the same purpose today.
