Description

This brooch pin was inspired by golden fall colors and multicolored kimono silk. It is made out of fine silk was  dyed golden yellow. The dyed silk is paired with a rainbow colored repurposed kimono silk. The brooch also features gold mizuhiki cord, black Swarovski pearl, and a bead cap.

The word “Hanami” is Japanese meaning to view (mi) flowers (hana). “Tsumami Kanzashi” is a Japanese art where hair decorations (kanzashi) are made by pinching (tsumami) pieces of silk to form a 3D shape. The artist  refers to it as origami for the hair and strives to make modern tsumami kanzashi in the old fashioned way.
