Don Smith taught drawing, painting and the History of East Asian Art at Rhode Island College. Since retiring in 1997 he has written and lectured on modern and contemporary art.

Prof. Smith has been a visiting lecturer and artist at Harvard University, Yale Summer School for Music and Art, Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, The Artist Union and more. His work is in over 60 public and private collections and has been shown in over 60 exhibits.
