This 1923 novelty song was inspired by an actual banana shortage caused by a banana blight in Brazil! Decades later it becane a hit for veteran talk-show host Merv Griffin who created an empire of entertainment businesses, most notably as producer of the long-running game shows "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!
