Every Story Has A Beginning …

The concept of a high velocity turkey video actually started in 2007 when Jason Cruise, founder of Outdoor Ministry Network and producer of Me & Dad TV, had the idea for a DVD called Lord of the Spring.

The idea was to create a turkey video that was full of tips and strategies, and yet helped a fella also in the quest for navigating the journey of life. Jason states,  “I have always believed that the average outdoor television show is overloaded in sheer number of kills per episode. You watch most any show and there’s (7) kills in one show. When I first got into turkey hunting, I watched everything Knight & Hale had to offer because they might show only (2) kills, but David and Harold would communicate their wisdom. So by watching their show, I’d always walk away with a little bit better insight as to how to put more birds over my shoulder come the next Spring season.”

The idea for Lord of the Spring was put on hold and basically sat dormant, until Jeremy Harrill, one of Jason’s closest soul brothers, had the same revelation, although unaware of what was stirring in Jason’s heart as well. Jeremy called Jason, and thus Lord of the Spring was put into action.

Harrill recalls, “God laid the idea on my heart after going to a hunting show just prior to the opening of turkey season. I watched as hundreds of fellas poured through the doors to that show who obviously shared the same obsession as I – hunting spring gobblers. I knew from experience that many of these dudes felt much more at home in the turkey woods than they do anywhere remotely near a church. I began to ask myself, how then can we ever reach these guys with the Gospel? Very quickly God made it clear that it could be done by reaching them through their passions. What if we could create a hunting DVD and take our passion for turkey hunting and use it to tell the greatest story ever- of what Jesus Christ did for you and me? By bringing along hunting celebrities and turkey hunting legends to help tell the story, God turned a dream into a reality.

After dreaming up the concept, Harrill & Cruise decided the best way to debut the project was to release it at the 2010 Annual Convention of the National Wild Turkey Federation. At the NWTF’s annual gathering, over 40,000 people will come through the exhibit hall doors, so Harrill & Cruise could think of no better way of not only releasing the project, but also planned this specific weekend as a way to put into motion the very reason the project was created … which is sharing the gospel with turkey hunters.

“When you think about the fact that over 40,000 fellow turkey fanatics will be in one gigantic room in one weekend, that’s a perfect time not only to give them one heck of a turkey DVD, but it’s the perfect venue to tell them about the God that actually made the spring woods they love so much.” says Cruise. Harrill followed that by saying, “Turkey hunting is one of the hottest things in the outdoor industry right now. This DVD was specifically created to share the Gospel with outdoorsmen – in turkey hunter language. I believe it will be a great resource for individuals, groups and churches to use as an evangelism tool to reach hunters in their communities across the country.”

Upon the release of the project at the NWTF Convention, held in Nashville, TN, February19-21, 2010, the Lord Of The Spring will be open to the public for ordering. Churches will be given massive bulk discounts so that they may distribute the DVD at men’s events. www.LordOfTheSpring.Com
