Description

Illinois plein-air artist Anne Kauff has generously offered for bid Daffodils, an oil painting done in bold complimentary colors, painted in a Post Impressionist style. The framed size of the artwork measures 19.5" x 24."

In Anne's own words, "Subject matter is not terribly important to me. I paint still life and florals. I paint plein-air landscapes because I love being out doors, and the challenge of saying what you want to say in a very limited amount of time. It keeps me from getting caught up in the details of what I’m painting and focused on what the painting is about. I’m more concerned with conveying a feeling, whether it is the loneliness I see in an empty prairie under a leaden sky, or the exuberance of water splashing over rocks. One work I titled Joy because I was painting a hillside of spring grass in the morning sun and it was the most incredible chartreuse green. Joy was what I felt the entire painting session

Anne's works were displayed at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center during the April 2011 Spring Fling show of the citywide Galley Night and Day exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
