As a tribute, the Free Press wrote a book: “Sparky Anderson: The Life of a Baseball Legend.”
They reflect on his long career in 128 full-color pages of historic photos and defining moments by and about a good-field, no-hit middle infielder from South Dakota who was once a nobody known as George Lee Anderson.
To provide the complete portrait of Sparky’s entire career, the Free Press worked on the project with its sister Gannett paper in Cincinnati, The Enquirer.
