Many attempts have been made to recreate John James Audubon's (1785-1851) unparalleled Elephant Folio.  His brilliant hand-colored engravings have been replicated from the original archival engravings in this high quality Baby Elephant edition.  There are 917 illustrations, including 482 in full color.

They have been reorganized in a manner that closely follows the standard classification of a genetically related group of birds, order/family/species.  Not only does it make searching for birds easier, but it allows readers to see Audubon's artistic handling of these species.

This oversized hardcover book will delight bird lovers as well as art lovers.  It measures 15.5" x 12.5", and is 3" thick.

It has been previously enjoyed, but is in excellent condition.  It is not a leather-bound edition.
