Description
Breaking Through the Clouds is the story of twenty women pilots, including Amelia Earhart, who defied convention by taking to the skies and racing across country in 1929 for the First Women’s National Air Derby.
Expertly researched, beautifully shot and edited, and filled with never before seen footage, Breaking Through The Clouds is a character driven documentary showing the trials and tributions the women endured in the derby over 9 days when they took off in California and strived to be the winner in Cleveland, Ohio.
These amazing women endured rough weather, mechanical failures, rumors or sabotage and battled the social stigma of the day. Breaking Through The Clouds contains actual footage of the race and wonderful interviews with living relatives of these pilots which adds an enormous emotional edge to the telling of this story.
