But the woman woh really did these things did them almost twenty years before Amelia Earhear even learned to fly a plane. The first licensed pilot was Harriet Quimby!
The United States Postal Service honored Quimby in 1991 with a United States Airmail Stamp for "Harriet Quimby: Pioneer Pilot." Since that time the public has become eager to find out more about "The Bird Girl" pictured on the stamp and on the fron of this book.
