Mew Chui of Flights of Fancy NYC offers original monotype prints of some of her favorite subjects, bird and flowers.

A monotype print is an original work of art made by pressing paper against a painted or inked surface. I use 100% cotton acid free paper that is specifically made for printmaking and Akua-Kolor water-based inks which are entirely non-toxic.

In addition to inking or painting the plate, I also love to cut out my images and ink them or use them as collage elements. The cut-outs create a distinctive embossing on the paper after it comes through the press.  Please note the photo was taken with plastic wrap on the artwork.
