Description
Enjoy this collection of superb wines, assembled from the wineries of Head-Royce families. Includes:
Cumbre of Vine Hill Select Pinot Niors: Three bottles of fine Pinot Noir from Cumbre of Vine Hill, Santa Cruz County, CA. 2008 Hicks Pinot Noir, 2008 Godinez Pinot Noir, and 2008 Raffaelli Pinot Noir Cumbre wines are "The Pinnacle of Santa Cruz Mountains Wine." Cumbre represents Vine Hill Winery's best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from fruit grown in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. The Cumbre Pinot Noir we create will include Estate, vineyard designate wines Hicks and Raffaelli, and two blended Pinot Noir wines, Godinez and Barrel 31. All wines are made from 100% Santa Cruz Mountains AVA Pinot Noir. The estate Pinot Noir was first made in 2004 and its next vintage is 2009. The chronological gap represents the replanting of 7,000 vines that we concluded in 2007.
Tatedog Wisner Vineyard 2009 Chardonnay. Gold Award-Winner in the SF Chronicle Wine Contest. Round, fleshy and succulent, has a rich entry thru finish, with tropical fruits, a hint of flint, citrus crème brulee and honey notes. The butterscotch and nut on the finish lingers pleasantly. The wine is dry with a bit of pleasant barrel sweetness. The acidity is balanced and the wine is rich enough to go with the fat of a ribeye very nicely. You can enjoy a fair amount in one sitting without feeling engorged.
Tatedog Louis Mel Vineyard, 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. Aromatics waft a bit of cut grass with tropical and stone fruits popping out. On the Lots of wet stone and mineral, a bit piquant with some fig and citrus thrown in the mix. Very nice finish with the taste profile wonderfully changing as the wine warms in your glass (yes you have to consume slowly).
Wanless Wisner Vineyards, 2008 Chardonnay. This one promises to be same high-quality of Tatedog Chardonnays.
Three bottles of 2003 Dharma Estate Monte Lago wine: one each of Meritage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Monte Lago vineyards is a small family owned vineyard nestled in the hills between California's largest freshwater lake, Clear Lake, and the High Valley watershed. The hillside vineyard derives its name from the volcanic Mt. Konocti, "Monte", and the picturesque Clear Lake, "Lago".
Our North Slope plantings enjoy long ripening seasons with hot summer days and cool nights caressed by the cool gentle breezes of the lake. The ideal weather, temperatures, soils and the unique effects of the lake combine to produce the most intense and flavorful fruit.
Monte Lago wines are single vineyard wines made to represent this unique region. We believe we have captured the indescribable qualities of "terroir" in each bottle. Our hand crafted wines are truly the essence of the berries on the vine and should age beautifully in the cellar. As a family winery, we make only limited quantities. We hope you enjoy our wines.
