Description

It's a Kick!  One week of McCallie Half Day Soccer Camp for boys and girls in rising grades 2nd-5th, July 16-20. (Session 2) ONLY.

Session 2 is Day Only for Grades: rising 2nd - 5th, boys and girls; Camp is held from 9-12 and includes: ball & t-shirt, swimming in the McCallie outdoor "Lake", no lunch

The McCallie Soccer Camp packs plenty of soccer fun and learning into one week. Tony Meyers, McCallie's varsity soccer coach, directs the camp, staffed by experienced high school and college players. The camp aims to develop basic technical and tactical abilities which will enable the individual player to become versatile while growing into a player with many options and opportunities. The basic approach to soccer instruction which dominates is the competitive play of various small-sided games. In such an environment, the individual player experiences many opportunities to touch the ball and to make decisions. This repetition of play best improves the technical and tactical abilities of the youth player. Players will be grouped by age and ability in order that the individual player receives appropriate challenges.

Meyers' McCallie teams have appeared in 8 State Tournaments, 5 State semi-finals, and the 2010 championship game.  Coach Meyers was voted Tennessee State Coach of the Year in 2010.

HALF-DAY CAMP: Please pick up your player at the field at 12:00 noon, or at the McCallie Lake, located next to the SAC by 12:30 p.m. While staff will remain until the last camper departs, please make every effort to pick up your player at 12:30. Lunch is not included unless you add lunch and the After Activity Program (12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) for $40 additional per day.

CAMP INFORMATION
We would like to make you aware of the items that each child should bring each day of camp:

  1. Both soccer cleats and athletic shoes because time will be spent both indoors and outdoors each day. An extra T-shirt is also helpful, especially if it is rainy.

  2. Each player will be given a camp ball on the first day, which will be labeled with the player's initials. The ball should then be brought each day the rest of the week.

  3. All meals are provided, but players may want to bring snacks and/or change for drinks.

  4. Please, ensure that your camper brings his own water bottle or water cooler to camp each day. As a health precaution, it is imperative that each camper has one. Campers will be able to refill their water bottles or water coolers at the fields, but we will not provide cups for drinking out on the field.

  5. Please, provide your child with a distinctive towel (pure white is easily confused) and a swimsuit for swim time. McCallie Life Guards will conduct a swim test on the first day of camp. Please advise us if you’d prefer your player to not take part in swim time.

  6. Players must wear shin guards whenever any soccer activity is being engaged.

  7. Each player should have his or her own carry bag in order to keep track of all equipment and to be able to carry all belongings wherever he or she goes.

  8. Players will verify their desired T-shirt size at registration and be given a camp T-shirt on the last day of the session.
