A light blue gluggle jug, the surf blue really stands out and brings life and character to any setting. Based on a 100 year old design the new style still maintains the traditional glug noise created when air is trapped in the tail during filling.
These fantastic gluggle jugs are made from durable stoneware and make a unique talking point around any table Simply fill with water and pour, as air gets trapped in the fish's tail the jug emits a gluggle sound making an ideal present to amuse family, friends and fishermen.
This style of jugs was originally made in Staffordshire in the late 1870s. However, the most widely known manufacturer of Gluggle jugs was Dartmouth Pottery which closed in 2002 when Wade Ceramics bought the Gluggle jug mould.
A special pair of jugs were made in 1958 for presentation to the Queen and Prince Philip on their visit toBritanniaNavalCollegeto present New Colours. This gift undoubtedly helped the popularity of the jugs, and they became great collectors itemsand over the years hundreds were made to advetise Plymouth Gin.
Gluggle Ltd. was established in 2009 and in association with Wade Ceramics has developed a range of brand new colours which gives the jugs a more contemporary feel.
