About Gypsy Cafe - Modern Comfort Food:

Chef John Littlewood has been classically trained and has cooked with the best. He traveled the world and savored local recipes wherever he went. He has cooked in Paris and Lyon, on a barge in Burgundy, and taught cooking in the Sierra Foothills. He also has his new cookbook featuring recipes he created for Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma. But if you ask John what he is about, what he loves, he will tell you it is all about sharing a meal with friends. Creating a special meal combining the best of what is local, and pairing wines or serving beers that compliment each bite. When you watch John eat, he takes the time to taste each bite, analyzing the ingredients and techniques that went into the dish, and then he smiles because this is his passion. At gypsy cafe, the chef brings all his adventures skills and recipes to the table.

As a restaurant designer Shawn E. Hall has designed dozens of local restaurants like Willi's Seafood, Hopmonk Tavern, Costeaux Bakery, but never her own. Opening Gypsy Cafe with her friends; John gives her the chance to put her own trademark style to the test. With its great location at 162 North Main St. Sebastopol, Shawn hopes to create an experience that reflects the heart of the community. The space will be rustic, casual and inviting like its owners. The music will be hand picked from all of their favorite places around the world, the colors and textures will make you want to stop by daily just to see what's going on. And her oversized travel photos and salvaged treasures lining the brick walls will provoke wanderlust and conversation while you eat the best food in town.
