As one of Albuquerque’s last remaining local, independent bookstores, we pride ourselves on supporting our community and putting books and people together. We hold over 300 in-store, out-of-store, and kids’ events per year, showcasing the work of major nationally-known authors and small, locally-published authors alike.

As a locally-owned small business, we pay taxes that support our community, pay wages and give benefits to our employees (who are your friends and neighbors), donate money and books to local nonprofits, support our local libraries, and give back to our community however we can, whenever we can.

We were indie before indie was cool.

Bookworks is located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW, in the Flying Star Plaza.  We are just north of Griegos on Rio Grande, before Los Poblanos Inn. Remember that Montano doesn't intersect Rio Grande.

From I-40: Take the Rio Grande exit, and make a right (north) onto Rio Grande.  Pass several lights (and the North Valley La Montanita Co-Op on your right) and travel just north of Griegos (a stoplight is here). We're on the right, next to the North Valley Flying Star in a small shopping center.

Hours: 
Monday through Saturday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
We close on only three days a year: the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
