In spring 2011, The Paris Review announced the ambitious serialization of The Third Reich, Roberto Bolãno’s lost novel exploring memory and violence through the story of a German war-games champion abroad. The Review commissioned author and artist Leanne Shapton (The Native Trees of Canada) to illustrate scenes from each of the four sections published in the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter 2011 issues.
