Hardbound book, 117 pages, published by UMI Research Press Studies in Cinema.  John Howard Lawson was one of the "Hollywood Ten."  Spent one year in Federal prison after HUAC trial.  His cellmate was Dalton Trumbo.  Book details his work as a playwright and screenwriter, 1920s through 1950s.  Also talks about his involvement with the Commumist Party.  Blacklisted and continued writing scripts under assumed names.
