Midwest jazz legend Manty Ellis is the cornerstone of Milwaukee jazz. He co-founded the jazz program at the Wisconsin Conservatory along with Tony King and has been a recipient of the Arts Midwest Jazz Masters award. The list of musicians Manty has worked with include Sonny Stitt, Eddie Harris, Stanley Turrentine, Richard Davis, Buddy Montgomery, Brian Lynch, Willie Pickens, David Hazeltine, and Melvin Rhyne. Famous jazz musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, George Benson, Frank Foster and Eddie Moore could be found jamming at Manty’s Ellis Music store whenever they were in town. The newly-renovated Trout Museum of Art has proven to be one of the most spectacular and intimate venues for live jazz in the state. The performance is approximately one and one-half hours long and features a 15 minute intermission. A cash bar is available throughout the evening.
