"The Fairbanks Museum was opened in 1891 by industrialist and philanthropist Franklin Fairbanks from his cabinet of curiosities.  It was one of the first teaching museums in the nation. The Museum’s Collection has over 170,000 objects, including animals and artifacts, dolls and tools, shells and fossils.”
