Description

This 20-inch by 23-inch photograph is autographed by six WASPs. "Dot" Swain Lewis was one of 10 women who were taught to be an instructor pilot at Phoebe Omlie's Women's Research Flight Instructor School from 1942-1943. Dawn Seymour was one of the "lucky 13" WASPs who completed training on the four-engine B-17. Vi Cowden earned her pilot's license before World War II and went on to ferry fight planes for the war effort. Norma J. "Penny" Hall Halberg flew out of Gardner Army Air Base and is noted for piloting an AT-6, PT-17, and BT-13. Jeannette Goodrum was involved in production line maintenance and aircraft testing before the WASPs were disbanded in December 1944. Mary Anna Martin Wyall was accepted in the WASP in May 1944 and was part of the last graduating class in December 1944. As a WASP, she flew AT-6s, BT-13s and PT-17s.
