Description
Looking for the adventure of a Lifetime? How about a 5-day wilderness journey down the Salmon River in Idaho! Yellow Jacket River Guides offers an unparalleled outdoor experience for adventurers of all ages. The Salmon River is known for world class whitewater. Each day you'll have a choice of oar boats, where passengers relax and let the guide do the work; paddle boats, where paddlers and the guide work together to negotiate rapids; thrilling inflatable kayaks, where one or two people paddle a small craft; or you can even bring your own kayak or canoe.
The Salmon River offers so much more than whitewater though. There are long stretches of peaceful flatwater, ideal for swimming, learning to row or trying a different craft, or just sitting quietly and possibly catching a glimpse of a moose, bear, or golden eagle. Outstanding fishing opportunities abound for the interested angler. Explore Sheepeater Indian pictographs, pioneer homesteads, abandoned mining claims, and even a hotspring. You can also take longer hikes exploring side canyons or climbing to breath-taking vistas.
Camp each night at beautiful white sand beaches where your guides prepare gourmet meals while you hike, fish, swim, read, or enjoy a cocktail or a hot drink by the campfire. The menu features savory fresh meats, locally grown vegetables, and irresistible desserts. Later in the evening, you can head to your sturdy tent and snuggle down in a quality sleeping bag perched on a soft sleeping pad. It’s a great trip for inexperienced, first timers or the most seasoned of campers.
